Ambassadors

These ambassadors were so irradiated that their mere touch could cause an explosion. Having taken the place of human astronauts on their return trip to Earth, the ambassadors were eventually identified as aliens, and then abducted in an elaborate ploy to sow xenophobic seeds among susceptible humans.
