Mechanoids

Of all the attempts by the BBC to replace the Daleks with an intellectual property of their own, the Mechanoids were surely the most corpulent ones. Gigantic metal spheres that genuinely hampered the TV production by being too fat to fit through doorways, the Mechanoids were droids sent ahead of human colonists to ready new planets for the impending bipedal arrivals. In classic Classic fashion, the planet they were working on here was called Mechanus.
