In case you didn’t know already – which would be pretty weird, considering you’re reading these words – the next Doctor will be played by Peter Capaldi. And what a fantastic choice!
Matt Smith, we will miss you greatly. You’ve been such a wonderful Doctor to all of humanity. But at least you can rest assured that the role of The Doctor will be in good hands.
Peter Capaldi, we look forward to falling in love with your Doctor and seeing you take charge of the TARDIS to travel through space and time!
Peter Capaldi was previously on the Doctor Who episode “The Fires of Pompeii” in Series 4. He also played a major role in Torchwood: Children of Earth (Season 3).
Just watch Peter Capaldi in Childrens of Earth, it is one of the greatest pieces of television I’ve ever seen and he just nails the part. Personally I’m hoping for a mature, dark and mysterious Doctor. Also, my unpopular opinion is that Matt Smith is my least favorite Doctor, having watched until Jon Pertwee atm.
Smith’s casting was made public before he appeared on the show.
