Who might The Fourteenth Doctor and next showrunner be? We sat down for some in-depth speculation and dream casting

With the recent announcement that Jodie Whittaker is passing on the role of The Doctor after the next season of Doctor Who, and that Chris Chibnall will be stepping down as showrunner in the process, we sat down for a good couple of hours to discuss a huge list of candidates, do a bit of wishful casting, and debate who’d be perfect or terrible and why.

    I dunno who I’d pick for either but I think the showrunner role is the most important. In hindsight, Chibnall was a one hit wonder with the first season of Broadchurch and we know how that’s gone so far…
    For the Doctor, it’s probably going to be someone lowkey. I think Capaldi was the biggest star to take it on, though McGann and Ecclestone had a decent careers prior to Who.
    With respect to comedy actors, Pertwee was seen as such but his portray is very serious (and action-y).
    A Welsh doctor would be good, as long as it isn’t a Brummie one.
