Doctor John Smith is in need of a new novitiate, pupil, trainee, or some other appropriate word, and has received videos from four applicants whom he’ll be reviewing at the conference at the Greenwich Cathcart hotel.
Coinciding with this X-Factor / Apprentice / Charlie and the Chocolate Factory disappoint-a-thon are such diverse C-plots as a sentient software package, a megalomaniac hacker’s attempt to hijack said software package, a stranded alien’s attempt to hijack said C-plot, an impromptu vampire’s attempt to hijack the TARDIS, and a failed actress’ attempt to hijack the Doctor’s emotions.

It’s Chris Z here. I’m still listening, but don’t have as much time to write minis. I have really gotten into the audios & I’ll try to keep the audio minis coming in the future. On to the mini: Situation Vacant was pretty good for not having Lucy in it. I also liked the audition aspect. Tamsin Drew wouldn’t have been the one I would have eliminated first, she also would not have been my pick. Asha was great until she was written off by “ I don’t think we’d mesh well.” Really, that’s it. Instead we get Tamsin, merely because she’s the last one left and has a sob story about auditions. I like Tamsin better than some companions, but she’s like Martha following Rose. She just isn’t quite good enough. No more on that. Spoilers. (Said like River). I did like the episode enough.
